A global city at dusk — where BGU students immerse and serve
Home/Global Immersion
The classroom is the city

Learn where God is already at work.

BGU is mostly online — but transformation is never abstract. Twice in your program you'll travel with your cohort to one of the world's great cities to study leadership in the streets where it matters most.

Why we immerse

Theology read in the streets of the city.

Books and screens can take you only so far. In an immersion you walk the corridors of power, the markets, the churches, and the margins of a global city — listening to local leaders, examining real projects, and discerning how God is transforming people and place.

  • On the groundSite visits to civic, business, ministry, and community projects shaping the city.
  • With your cohortLearn shoulder-to-shoulder with leaders from a dozen nations — and build a lifelong network.
  • Reflected in faithDaily reflection turns observation into a Christ-centered framework you carry home.

Where we go

Immersions on six continents.

A rotating calendar of residencies in the cities where transformation is most alive.

How an immersion works

One week. A lifetime of perspective.

1

Prepare

Before you travel, study the city's history, theology, and challenges with your faculty mentor and cohort.

2

Immerse

Spend a week on the ground — site visits, local leaders, and daily reflection that turns experience into insight.

3

Apply

Carry a contextual, Christ-centered framework back to the city you serve — and put it to work.

In Accra I stopped reading about transformation and started seeing it — in a memorial, a castle dungeon, and a factory full of women building a future. I came home a different leader.
